S3E3: Don't Hurry, Be Happy - with Tara Kohler
This week on the Show Me the Way Podcast, I had the absolute pleasure and honor of welcoming one of my dear friends and Bible Study Sisters, Tara Kohler, to the show.
I’ve only known Tara for a few years, but she has made such a meaningful impact on my life. She has been incredibly supportive of this podcast, and I always knew she would be an amazing guest. But I also knew her story needed to be shared when she felt called and ready to share it.
After some initial resistance and reluctance, Tara began listening to other episodes and realized that maybe it was finally time to tell her story. And how grateful I am that she did!
Tara vulnerably opens up about loss, life changes, and more than one season of depression. She shares honestly about the difficult times she experienced emotionally, while also sharing how God continued to work through her—even in the darkest moments.
I often refer to Tara as a shepherd among us. She has a beautiful way of guiding, encouraging, and showing others the way through her own faith and her willingness to serve.
One of the themes Tara speaks about throughout our conversation is peace. She and her husband have even created a space in their home where she can truly experience that sense of peace and feel the flow of it around her. Because Tara understands what it feels like to struggle and search for peace, she has a deep desire to create spaces where others can find it too.
Through a supportive family, wonderful friends, community, prayer, and a whole lot of trust in God, Tara was able to walk through her most recent difficult season and come out on the other side with such incredible perspective and positivity.
She reminds us of the importance of being intentional—about what we pay attention to, the spaces we create, the things we do, and especially the people we surround ourselves with.
Tara’s story is vulnerable, honest, hopeful, and beautiful. I love learning from her in my own life, and I know you will too.
Sometimes showing the way doesn’t mean having all the answers. Sometimes it simply means walking through the hard places, finding your way back to peace, and then turning around to help someone else find theirs.
Let’s show each other the way.
