S2E52: Life Shifts, but So Can We - with Mariah Hedquist
This week, I welcomed Mariah Hedquist to the Show Me the Way podcast! Mariah was referred to me through a mutual connection, Lisa Kapulian, and what a wonderful guest she was to have on the show.
Mariah has spent many years in the beauty industry, speaking publicly and educating others about business. But in this episode, she shared more of her personal story and how her perspective on life began to shift after becoming a mom.
Her beautiful daughter, Isla—who you may hear throughout the episode—is now two years old, and Mariah reflects on just how different life looks with her in it. Once a big planner, high achiever, and someone determined to continue shining as a businesswoman, Mariah has come to understand and appreciate the importance of her role as a mom and manager of her home.
She reminds us how important it is to savor the moments and recognize that sometimes the things we once considered our biggest priorities can begin to look very different as life changes. Today, Mariah truly enjoys the path she is on and embraces all that comes with it—including being a part-time hairstylist and full-time mom.
Mariah also shares about her faith-filled journey and how her mindset shifted once she truly recognized that God is always with her and her family. Developing a deeper relationship with Him has helped her find peace, perspective, and joy in the season she is living in.
I love how Mariah’s story reminds us that sometimes the way forward isn’t exactly what we planned. There will be ups and downs and unexpected changes, but when we learn to embrace what works best for ourselves and our families, we can find joy in so many of the moments along the way.
Mariah’s perspective is thoughtful, intuitive, and such a beautiful example of what I hope to share through this podcast. Her story is a reminder that there is no one right path—and sometimes the most meaningful journey is the one we never planned.
