S2E51: Find Your People, But Lean on Me Too

I strongly believe in God winks—the little reminders that God places people in our lives for a reason. Today’s guest, Stacey Lanham, is such a beautiful example of that.

Stacey is a dear friend of another recent guest, Kristen Ulin, and I absolutely love when guests enjoy their time on the show enough to refer their friends and family. It means so much! Stacey also lives right here in my community, and as we discovered, we have several friends in common.

Stacey was born and raised in Colorado, and moving to Michigan was difficult. She initially felt lonely, uncertain and disconnected from the community she had always known. But what felt like a difficult transition turned out to be a blessing as she met some incredibly special people who would become lifelong friends.

Then came the pandemic, bringing another season of isolation—but also an opportunity for Stacey and her friends to grow even closer as they leaned on one another. Just as Stacey was feeling settled and grateful for the community she had found, she faced another life-changing challenge: a breast cancer diagnosis.

Her journey included surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, but once again, community showed up. Her friends stood beside her, supported her and reminded her just how valuable and important true friendship can be. Stacey also leaned deeply into her faith, trusting God through one of the most difficult seasons of her life.

Today, Stacey continues to advocate for others facing similar journeys. Through her company, she educates, raises awareness and supports philanthropic efforts to help others.

Stacey is truly a beautiful soul, and I’m so grateful she was willing to share her story. This conversation is a powerful reminder that even in the hardest seasons, we are never truly alone—and sometimes the people God places in our lives are exactly who we need.
