S2E31: Always Say I Love You - with Deena Elliott

Today’s episode also comes with a heartfelt disclaimer, as it explores another deeply emotional story of resilience and strength. This conversation was made possible through a referral from Christine Ankenbauer, who continues to connect us with incredible individuals willing to share their journeys.
In this episode, I speak with Deena Elliott, an inspiring mother who truly shows us the way through unimaginable loss. After unexpectedly losing her husband of 19 years, Deena was suddenly faced with navigating life as a single parent while helping her two children process their own grief. In a short period of time, she endured additional heartbreak with the loss of other loved ones, including her father. Despite overwhelming challenges, Deena found the strength to keep moving forward, supporting her children, continuing to work, and finding ways to rebuild a sense of stability for her family.
Through the support of her loving family and the guidance of therapy, Deena discovered the importance of caring for herself while caring for others. She shares how prioritizing her health and wellness became a meaningful outlet, leading to significant personal transformation. Today, she is pursuing certification to help others on their own wellness journeys.
Deena vulnerably shares her story as a reminder to cherish the people in our lives, to say “I love you” often, and to reach out when someone crosses our mind. She encourages us to let go of the small frustrations and instead feel gratitude for the moments we have together, recognizing that even life’s little annoyances are a gift when the people we love are still here.
