Before I share today’s episode, I want to include two important notes.

First, a heartfelt thank you to Christine Ankenbauer for the incredibly meaningful referrals. Christine, I have truly enjoyed meeting your connections and appreciate your support of the show more than you know.

Second, many of my episodes are emotional and deeply compelling, and this one is no exception. As I recorded and later edited this conversation, I found myself moved to tears. It is a powerful story — one that I believe will touch many of us and leave us with meaningful perspective.

Today’s guest is Jodi Sorrels. Jodi is a kind, energetic, loving, and passionate mama, wife, and friend. She is a dental hygienist who, like me, loves connecting with others, and we clicked the moment we first spoke. Christine was absolutely right — Jodi’s story is one that needs to be shared.

Jodi has experienced the unimaginable grief that no parent should ever have to endure. Just one year ago, she lost her son Curt after a six-year battle with an extremely rare cancer that he was diagnosed with while still in high school. Through years of treatments, surgeries, setbacks, pain, and uncertainty, Curt continued to show remarkable bravery, resilience, and maturity.

Despite everything he faced, Curt was determined to live as fully as possible. He enrolled at Ferris State University, pursued a degree in Construction Management, excelled academically, served as president of his fraternity, and built a beautiful two-year relationship with someone very special. He refused to let cancer define his spirit or limit his dreams.

As Jodi vulnerably shares her story, what shines through is the deep love of a mother who fought tirelessly for her son — advocating for the best care possible while continuing to care for her husband and two other children. The pain of losing Curt is something she will carry for the rest of her life, but Jodi is channeling that love into purpose. She is committed to spreading awareness, fundraising, and supporting others who may one day face a similar journey.

While none of us can fully understand what Jodi has experienced, there is so much we can learn from her strength, perspective, and willingness to share her story.

This episode may bring tears, but it will also remind you of the power of love, courage, and the importance of cherishing every moment.

Please listen, reflect, and consider sharing this episode with someone who may need this message. 💛
