This week on Show Me the Way, I sit down with Shari Davidek. I met Shari through my local Chamber of Commerce networking group, where she works behind the scenes and is a huge support to everyone involved. My friend and former guest, Christine Spradlin, knew Shari had a meaningful story to share—and she was right.

Shari is a devoted wife and mom of five—four boys and one girl—who have each shaped her into the strong, grounded woman she is today. But nothing could have prepared her or her husband for what happened when their oldest son was in high school. He suffered two strokes in a very short period of time, leaving doctors unsure if he would survive, let alone walk, talk, or remain the same person they knew and loved.

Their son endured a coma, uncertainty, and immense suffering. But then—miraculously—he woke up. Within just weeks, he began to communicate. What followed was a long road of therapy and determination, but he pushed through with resilience that inspired everyone around him.

Not only did he recover, but he thrived. He finished high school, attended community college, found a job, lived independently with new roommates, and eventually went away to school where he made friends—and met the woman who would become his wife. Today, he is working, married, and living with the kind of gratitude and perspective that only comes from surviving the unimaginable.

Shari shares this emotional journey with honesty, vulnerability, and incredible insight. She opens up about how the experience shaped her marriage, her parenting, and her children’s view of the world. Her story is powerful, perspective-shifting, and filled with wisdom we can all use—whether or not we’ve faced a tragedy like hers.

This is an episode you’ll carry with you long after it ends.
